Sowing Seed Production

How the Sowing Seed Production Lines work

Sowing seed cleaning (calibration) is solved by one or more machines.
The aim is to sort out only the highest quality grains for sowing from genetically valuable harvested crops. It is necessary to separate small, dried grains and grain fragments, as well as seeds of other crops and weeds.
The assembly of a specific line is designed according to the crops, performance and requirements of a specific customer.

A common seed line consists of the following technological nodes:
1) Intake of material and its pre-cleaning
2) Fine cleaning and calibration of sowing seeds
3) Seed treatment and packaging

Processed crops can be: cereals (eg: wheat, barley, oats, rye, triticale, sorghum, rice), oilseeds (eg: sunflower, rape, flax, poppy, hemp, sesame, linseed, milk thistle), legumes (eg .: peas, soybeans, lentils, beans, chickpeas, vetch, broad bean), grasses (eg: clover, purple tansy, alfalfa, ryegrass, timothy grass, fescue,), but also spelt, einkorn wheat, emmer wheat, buckwheat, millet , teff, cumin, amaranth

1) Pre-cleaning (performance approx. 20 – 100 t/h)
Part of the intake and pre-cleaning is solved by the receiving basket or hopper, followed by the VibroMAX JCM Cleaner. The aim is to quickly separate waste and small grain on intake in storage bins for later sorting (fine cleaning) of sowing seeds. Pre-cleaning is included only for lines with higher performance, especially to reduce the amount of stored material before final processing. Usually the pre-cleaning performance is about 20-100 t/hour.

2) Fine cleaning – own sowing seed line (performance approx. 5 – 35 t/h)
It consists of a VibroMAX JCM sieve cleaner (with de-awner JHA / JHS ), a JCT Intended Cylinder and a JGT Gravity Table, possibly in combination with a JGC Gravity Concentrator. An optical sorter can also be included for the final and control phase of sowing seed cleaning.

The proposed set of machines has the task of separating small grain and fragments, as well as weed grains, which however should not be included in cleaned material significantly. The VibroMAX JCM sieve cleaner has the option of air cleaning at the inlet and outlet. It is also possible to use machines with a third row of screens, eg JCM 10133, which is able to separate small grain of the 2nd quality. On this machine, grains of small size are sorted. In front of the VibroMAX JCM sieve cleaner, it is suitable to include a de-awner (machines of the JHA or JHS type), which can be used especially for the separation of multiple grains and spikelets in barley. When connecting this machine, bypass is always required.

JCT Intended Cylinder is usually used to separate short impurities (grain fragments, round weeds), but also long impurities (eg oatgrass) The JGT Gravity Table separates light dirt, especially dried grains, beetle-eaten grains and optionally residues of heavy impurities. The JGC Gravity Concentrator can be added in front of the Gravity Table if higher performance is required.

In recent years, it has been recommended to add optical sorter to the end of the line. The disadvantage of optical sorter is the higher purchase price, but this machine is universal applicable for the separation of any impurities and admixture.

3) Treatment and packaging (treatment capacity approx. 1-40 t/h)
Well treatment of the grain ensures good disinfection and protection. Seed treater always contains the dosing of material and chemicals, the system of its application, mixing and drying. Seed is packed in big-bags and / or bags. Different types of packaging machines and stands for big-bags are used.

4) Conveyors:
In sowing seed lines, we choose conveyors considering to low grain damage and also with the possibility of well cleaning of conveyors when changing commodity to by cleaned.
Common types of conveyors can be used for waste transport.
Machines: JTB belt conveyors, JTE bucket elevators, tray conveyors.
