How Post-harvest Processing Lines work

The post-harvest line is used for processing and subsequent storage of agricultural commodities immediately after harvest. The aim is to get rid of harvested cereals, legumes and oilseeds a specified amount of undesirable impurities, reduce their moisture to a level acceptable for storage and at the same time homogenize the various types of commodities at harvest. The quality of processed, stored and shipped commodities can be assessed by the amount and particle size distribution of impurities, specific gravity and other indicators, such as the weight of 1000 grains or the biochemical properties of cereals, legumes and oilseeds. An important monitored parameter is also the humidity with which the temperature and shelf life of the commodity are associated.

The commodity is received via an grain dump pit, or above-floor grain pit, depending on the nature of the post-harvest line and the processed crops. The JCM VibroMAX Cleaner is used for cleaning, which is suitable for lines with a requirement for higher performance. Large and small impurities and small grain are separated by sieve and aspiration pre-cleaning or cleaning.

Drying:
The technological hopper ensures continuous intake of the raw material to the dryer, where the humidity of the commodity is reduced to the required value. This can then be stored for a long time.

Storage and Shipping:
The dried commodity is stored in silos or transported directly to a truck. Steel cylindrical silos are most often used for storage, either with a flat bottom or with a conical hopper.
